Abstract

This paper deals with the reasonable time as an institution, international and national mechanisms of protection of the right to a trial within reasonable time as a human right guaranteed by European Convention on Human Rights. The right to a trial within reasonable time is also guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, furthermore, the protection of this right represents prevailing and, at the moment, one of the most interesting legal issues in Serbian Judiciary. This is corroborated by the special law recently adopted at the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia governing the protection of this right.
