Abstract

The growth and acceptance of mediation over the past several decades has been confirmed by the practice of many states. As the field of mediation has matured, the process of family mediation became that much adapted to the unique needs of matrimonial disputes than many families today owe this process for being able to find best solutions during some exceedingly difficult periods of their lives. The complexity of conflicts that arise within families made the role of family mediator quite demanding and require significant specific knowledge in order for the mediator to be able to help families to deal with tough times of change. Because of this, future family mediation practitioners have to be aware of all characteristics that make the process of family mediation different and quite unique in comparison with all other ways of solving disputes.
